Lt. Gen. Craig R. McKinley is Director, Air National Guard. The general is responsible for formulating, developing and coordinating all policies, plans and programs
affecting more than 106,800 Guard members in more than 88 flying units and 200 geographically separated units throughout the United States, the District of Columbia,
Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands. He has served in numerous assignments in flying and operations, as well as command positions at group, wing, sector and field
operating agency levels. He has also served as Commander, 1st Air Force, Air Combat Command, and Commander, Continental U.S. North American Aerospace Defense Command
Region, Tyndall Air Force Base, Fla. General McKinley is a command pilot with more than 4,000 hours, primarily in the T-38, F-106, F-16 and F-15. Additionally, General
McKinley has been pilot in command in the C-131 and C-130 Operational Support Airlift aircraft.
Chief Master Sergeant Lori Ashness

Chief Master Sergeant Lori Ashness is currently the State Command Chief Master Sergeant (CCM), Rhode Island Air National
Guard, Joint Forces Headquarters.
Chief Ashness enlisted in the Rhode Island Air National Guard 1978 where she served 9 years
in 143rd Law Enforcement Squadron. While working full time as a state guard, she obtained her Associate’s degree in
Computer Programming. In 1987 she transferred to the Communication Squadron as a Communications Operations Specialist
and went on to obtain her Baccalaureate’s degree in Computer Information Systems. From 1993 to 1997 she served as the
Support Group First Sergeant establishing new programs and regulations to positively impact the men and woman of the
143rd Airlift Wing. During this time she obtained an Associate’s Degree with the Community College of the Air Force
(CCAF) in Personnel Management. In 1997 she was selected to be the first Wing Human Resources Advisor (HRA) setting
standards, procedures and programs in place. In 2003 she was selected as the State HRA. She was selected as the State
CCM in June 2006. Chief Ashness also serves as the Membership Chairperson for the AFA RI Chapter 311.
Chief Ashness also serves as the Membership Chairperson for the RI Chapter of
AFA as well as the HRA Region V Representative.
Major Robert Botkin

Appointed in August 2003, Captain Robert T. (Bob) Botkin is currently serving on the ANG Advisory Council
to the AFA as the Logistics Company Grade Officer representative. Capt Botkin is the full-time Maintenance
Squadron Commander with the 125th Fighter Wing in Jacksonville FL. His previous position was as the Wing
Plans and Logistics Officer also with the 125 FW. Capt Botkin transferred to the Florida Air National Guard
from the Missouri Air National Guard where he had served as the Wing Plans and Logistics Officer. He has a
total of eight years of experience in this position. Capt Botkin deployed in support of Operation Enduring
Freedom as the Commander of the 380th Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron at Al Dhafra AB, UAE. He
also served as the Chairman for the ANG War Planners Advisory Council. Prior to his commissioning through
the ANG Academy of Military Science program, Capt Botkin obtained the rank of Master Sergeant as an Avionics
Flightline Repair Technician. Capt Botkin currently has 17 years service in the Air National Guard and six
years service in the Active Duty Air Force. He received his Bachelors Degree in Human Resources Management
from Lindenwood University.
Brigadier General Hugh T. Broomall

Brigadier General Hugh T. Broomall is the
Assistant Adjutant General for Air, Headquarters Delaware Air National Guard. General Broomall commands the Delaware Air National Guard and is
responsible for providing trained, equipped and mission ready forces in support of federal mobilization requirements and state emergency operations.
He develops plans, programs and policies in support of the Delaware C-130 Wing and maintains liaison with major commands and the National Guard Bureau.
General Broomall was commissioned in November 1974 through the Academy of Military Science, McGhee Tyson Air National Guard
Base. Prior to receiving his commission, General Broomall served as an enlisted member in the Delaware Air National Guard. Following his commissioning,
General Broomall attended the Department of Defense Armed Forces Intelligence Officer Course at Lowry Air Force Base and upon graduation was assigned as
Air Intelligence Officer. During that assignment, he attended the United States Air Force Intelligence Service Soviet Military Power Training, United
States Air Force Tactical Air Warfare Training, Battle Staff Management, Special Operations School, and Latin American Orientation. He deployed worldwide
in support of exercises and contingencies. General Broomall was designated the Military Airlift command’s Intelligence Officer of the Year.
General Broomall has commanded the 166th Support Group, Delaware Air National Guard, where he was responsible for all matters
relating to civil engineering, personnel, services, security and communications. In 1997, General Broomall was selected by Delaware’s Senator William V. Roth
to serve as a member of the Congressional Fellowship Program. He served in this capacity from January to November 1997. As a congressional fellow he served as
a primary military staff officer supporting the United States Senate North Atlantic Treaty Organization Observer Group. Prior to his current assignment, General
Broomall served as the United States Property and Fiscal Officer until his appointment as Assistant Adjutant General for Air in October 2004.
Technical Sergeant Daniel Dierickx

SSgt Daniel F. Dierickx is an air traffic control craftsman with the 270th Air Traffic Control Squadron, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
Sergeant Dierickx volunteered to deploy in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and to extend an additional 120 days when personnel manning dropped to unacceptable levels. He was fully certified to control aircraft at Sather AB, Iraq in only three days after arrival. His quick reaction controlled a battle-damaged emergency Marine helicopter landing on the civilian portion of the airfield without delaying local traffic and while conducting crash rescue response and host nation coordination. He ensured Army and Air Force pilots understood and complied with complex Iraqi civil air authority rules. Overcoming language issues and differing rules, he forged a joint U.S. and Iraqi control team for 13,000 monthly operations. He was the deployed watch supervisor’s choice when traffic `complexity dictated the need for an understanding and enthusiastic controller.
He’s dedicated to increasing his knowledge base by simultaneously working on his Associates Degree from the Community College of the Air Force and a Bachelor’s Degree from Thomas Edison University. In addition, he generously gives his time serving as a Big Brother for a Christian Youth Center.
Sergeant Dierickx enlisted in the Air National Guard shortly after his junior year in high school and entered basic training in June 2002. After completing air traffic control training at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, he returned to Klamath Falls to serve as a traditional national guardsman.
Major General (ret) Michael J. Haugen

Major General Michael J. Haugen assumed the duties of the Adjutant General of North Dakota on December 19th, 2000. The adjutant general commands
4,500 North Dakota Air and Army National Guard men and women, with approximately 1100 full time federal and state employees. He is responsible for
federal and state missions, is the Director of the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services consisting of two Divisions; the Division of
Homeland Security and the Division of State Radio Communications.
The general enlisted in the North Dakota Air National Guard in 1967 and served in aircraft maintenance. He
received his commission in 1970, and completed Undergraduate Pilot Training in 1972. He has served in various assignments and command positions at the
squadron, group and wing level. MG Haugen is a command pilot with more than 11,000 hours of flying time. Aircraft flown include: T-37, T-38, F-101,
F-4D, C-131, Convair 580, Boeing 737, and F-16.
The general retired from military service in September of 2006. He currently is president of M.J. Haugen and
Associates Inc., a business and professional development consulting firm.

Chief Master Sergeant Michael Meyer

CMSgt Michael W. Meyer is the newest member of the Civilian Advisory Council just joining this year. He is the
Fulltime Maintenance Superintendent at the 242 Combat Communication Squadron, located at Spokane, Washington.
The unit won the prestigious Outstanding Combat Communication Unit in the National Guard in 2003 and in 2005 .
He has been a full time technician in the Washington Air National Guard since 1978. Along with his CAC involvement,
he is President of the Eastern Washington Chief’s Council, member of the Christian Heritage school board, and an avid
golfer and gardener. He and his wife, Dev, and their teenager son live on a 10 acre farm outside of Spokane
Washington.
Chief Master Sergeant Jon Rosa

Chief Master Sergeant Jon Rosa is the Combat Control (CCT) CEM, 123rd Special Tactics Squadron, Kentucky ANG. He entered the active duty
Air Force in 1981. Initially trained as an air traffic controller, he was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ and Homestead AFB, FL. He
was also assigned to the 2nd Combat Communications Squadron at Patrick AFB, FL. Chief Rosa later cross trained into the CCT career field.
In 1994, he transferred to the Kentucky ANG. He has held numerous leadership positions within the 123rd Special Tactics Squadron from
Mobility NCO to Chief of Standardization and Evaluation. He is a ground combat veteran of both Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
Chief Rosa’s military and civilian education includes Airman Leadership School; Noncommissioned
Officer’s Academy ; Senior NCO Academy; Chief’s Leadership Course; and the Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Course. He holds an
Associate’s Degree in Airway Science from the Community College of the Air Force. He also graduated from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautics.
He is active in various veterans organizations, and is currently serving as the Kentucky state President
of the Air Force Association. Most recently he oversaw the evacuation of over 11,000 citizens in New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, the largest
non-combatant evacuation in history.

Major General (ret) Mason C. Whitney

Major General (USAFR retired) Mason C. Whitney was appointed the Director of the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security for Colorado by Governor Bill Ritter February 4th, 2008 and serves on the Governor’s cabinet. His responsibilities include planning and implementing the State Homeland Security Strategy, ensuring that effective risk management is used in assessing threats to Colorado, developing capabilities to achieve the Homeland Security mission, and evaluating preparedness. He served as The Adjutant General of Colorado from 2000 to 2007. He retired from the Colorado National Guard in April of 2007 with almost 39 years of commissioned service in the United States Air Force and the Colorado National Guard. His responsibilities as The Adjutant General included the command administration for 5,400 Colorado Army and Air National Guard members and state support for the 2,000 members of the Colorado Wing of the Civil Air Patrol. He also served as the Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, and was a member of Governor Owens’ cabinet from 2000 to 2007.
The general graduated from Kansas State University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering. He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant through the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps program in June 1968. He entered active duty in August 1968, attended undergraduate pilot training at Laredo AFB, Texas, and earned his pilot wings in August 1969. He served as a forward air controller at Ban Me Thout Special Forces Camp, South Vietnam, where he flew 343 combat missions in the O-2A aircraft throughout Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. After a tour in Air Training Command as an instructor pilot, he served in Tactical Air Command as a flight commander and wing standardization/evaluation officer at England AFB, Louisiana in the A-7D Corsair II aircraft.
The general joined the Colorado Air National Guard in August 1979 where he held the positions of chief of standardization/evaluation, fighter squadron operations officer, fighter squadron commander, deputy commander for maintenance, and wing vice commander. In September of 1990 he was appointed as the 140th Tactical Fighter Wing Commander and served in that position until May 1998. At that time, he was selected for the position of ANG Assistant to the Commander of Air Combat Command at Langley AFB, Virginia and was promoted to Major General. Governor Bill Owens appointed him to the position of The Adjutant General of Colorado in February of 2000.
General Whitney and his wife Miriam live in Centennial, Colorado and have two grown sons.
