Caregiver Support
Just as our wounded Airmen and Guardians have made great sacrifices in the name of service, so have their caregivers. These hidden heroes bring a strength to our Air Force and Space Force that few will ever truly understand.
While caregivers often suffer alone, they can thrive within a community who understands their challenges and sacrifices. That’s why AFA’s Wounded Airmen & Guardians Program provides opportunities and funding for caregivers to connect with the Wounded Warrior community.
CARE Events
The life of a caregiver can be lonely and isolating. We are proud to bring together groups of up to 40 caregivers at a time for much-needed rest and relaxation activities. AFA’s Caregiver Days have included everything from spa days to bowling to a cruise around Washington, DC.
At every on-site CARE event, AFA hosts a “Caregiver Day” to treat the caregivers to respite care, mindfulness coaching, and team-building activities to improve their quality of life. Learn more about Warrior CARE events →
Travel Assistance
When an unfunded veteran warrior is selected to attend a Warrior CARE event, AFA helps fund their caregivers to attend, too. The Wounded Airmen & Guardian Program helps caregivers find and afford childcare and parking so they can attend important sessions on resiliency training and financial management.
