Win A Trip to SPACE CAMP

2004 is the 50th Anniversary of the creation of the U.S. Space and Missile Command. In celebration, the Aerospace Education Foundation would like your students to tell us about the planet they would most like to travel to and why.

Prizes will be awarded in the following grade categories: 4-6 grade, 7-8 grade, and 9-12 grade. Up to fifty students will be selected to receive full scholarships to attend U.S. SPACE CAMP during the week of August 15-20, 2005. This scholarship includes full tuition and round trip airfare transportation for the winners (a $1,500 value). Interested applicants must submit an original essay on the following theme:

What Planet Would You Most Like to Visit and Why?

Each original essay must include the following elements:

  • Space CampWhy do you want to visit this planet?
  • How would you get there?
  • Who would you take with you (if anyone) and why?
  • What would you see and do when you arrived?
  • How would you survive on your chosen planet?
  • How would you get back home?
  • What benefit to mankind does your trip have? What can we learn from your planetary visit?

    Format: Each essay is required to by typewritten, double spaced and single sided. (For 4-6 grade, entries may be typewritten or legibly handwritten.)

  • 4-6 grade: no less than 500 words
  • 7-8 grade: no less than 1000 words
  • 9-12 grade: no less than 1500 words.

In addition, each essay must be accompanied by an Essay Contest Submission Form. This form is available at our web site, www.aef.org.

All entries become the property of the Aerospace Education Foundation and will not be returned. All entries must be received in our office no later than February 15, 2005. Winners will be notified by March 15, 2005.
