In 1948 2.3 million tons of supplies were flown into Berlin over the course of 10 months by USAF Airmen. The Berlin Airlift is one of the largest humanitarian operations by the United States Air Force. As 2008 marks the 60th anniversary of this momentous event the Air Force Association would like celebrate the occasion.
Throughout the 10 months of the Airlift more than 270,000 flights were made into West Berlin. The United States Air Force became West Berlin’s lifeline, as well as helped to ensure their freedom. In addition to bringing necessary supplies, the Airmen brought ideas of democracy, of freedom, and of liberty to those in Berlin. We hope you will celebrate these wonderful accomplishments with AFA and the men and women of the USAF.
Our 16 piece fine-art series commemorates the United States Air Force and the Berlin Airlift. AFA has reproduced these exceptional paintings into limited-edition fine art prints. The artist signs each print along with one or more historical figures associated with the painting.
